What are the main advantages of vacuum glass over insulating glass?
1. Better thermal insulation performance: The vacuum layer inside the vacuum glass effectively blocks the conduction and convection of heat, making it excellent in thermal insulation. The heat transfer coefficient of vacuum glass is usually lower than 0.6W/m²·K, while that of ordinary single-piece glass is 6W/m²·K and that of insulating glass is 3W/m²·K, so vacuum glass has better thermal insulation performance. The thermal insulation performance of vacuum glass is 2-4 times that of insulating glass, especially in winter, it can better maintain indoor temperature and reduce the cost of heating and air conditioning.
2. Better sound insulation performance: Since the interior of vacuum glass is in a vacuum state and there is no sound transmission medium, its sound insulation performance is significantly better than that of insulating glass. The sound insulation of vacuum glass can reach more than 36 decibels, especially in the low frequency band (200Hz~300Hz) and the medium frequency band (500Hz~1000Hz). The weighted sound insulation of vacuum glass can reach 52dB, which is 42% higher than that of insulating glass.
3. Better anti-condensation performance: Due to its good thermal insulation performance, vacuum glass is not easy to condense, and it can ensure a clear view even at low temperatures, reducing the workload of cleaning and maintenance. The dew point temperature of vacuum glass is much lower than -60ºC, and it has good anti-frost ability.
4. Light and thin structure: vacuum glass is thinner and lighter than insulating glass, saving installation space and materials, and reducing transportation and installation costs. The thickness of vacuum glass is only half of that of insulating glass, or even thinner, which makes it effective in reducing load-bearing loads and saving frame materials in building curtain wall and door and window applications.
5. Long service life: The service life of vacuum glass is usually much longer than that of insulating glass, with an expected life of more than 25 years, the same as the door and window system. Vacuum glass is not prone to condensation and frost, and is suitable for cold areas.
6. Energy saving and consumption reduction: Vacuum glass can significantly reduce energy consumption such as air conditioning power consumption, and has obvious energy saving and carbon reduction effects due to its special vacuum layer structure, which can save 30%-60% energy efficiency compared to insulating glass.
7. Not restricted by the use position: The interior of vacuum glass is in a vacuum state, and is not affected by different angles and air pressure changes. The U value remains constant, and the glass panel always remains flat. The interior of insulating glass is mainly gas heat transfer, which will produce depressions and bulges under atmospheric pressure changes, and the U value will fluctuate greatly at different installation angles.
Compared with insulating glass, vacuum glass has significant advantages in heat insulation, sound insulation, anti-condensation, thin structure, service life, energy saving and consumption reduction, etc., especially suitable for buildings and industrial fields with high requirements for heat insulation and sound insulation.
